Oscar Martinez Vega

Through his experience with TWO computer science internships, Oscar was challenged to participate at all levels of the Software Development Life Cycle. He expanded his knowledge of Agile methodologies, learned new programming languages, participated in quality assurance tasks, and gained special certifications.

On top of all of that, Oscar feels more confident in his leadership skill, problem-solving abilities, and he knows the gifts he brings to collaborative efforts. Upon graduation, Oscar will continue his career in Kinetech Cloud in San Antonio, TX as a software engineer.

With one internship, he worked as a developer at Smith House Design, a web design and marketing agency that works with a variety of clients. He focused on user interface and experience as well as functionality.

In his own words, “You have to make something efficient, but also pretty.” He encouraged students not to be afraid to apply for internships even if they feel unqualified. He explained that all students go into internships feeling unprepared, but he said, “That’s the point; You’re there to learn.”
