Victoria Unnerstall
Victoria Unnerstall, a biochemistry major, has worked at a variety of internships over the course of her time at Franciscan. Her first internship was at the University, where she worked with Dr. Dan Kuebler on bone marrow stem cell research.
Her second internship was in computational chemistry at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh where she and other Franciscan students used computer simulation to solve chemical problems.
Her most recent internship was at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. There, she was involved in producing radioactive compounds for clinical and research environments.
She spoke of the progression of her internships being very helpful. Each internship was a less familiar environment than the one before. But in each, she still interacted with a few familiar faces, and she found that this gradation was beneficial. Each experience prepared her for the next one, spiritually and intellectually. She looks forward to using the skills she has learned to reach higher education opportunities.
